It is offered for those identified in 3rd-5th grade.
The purpose of GATE is to:
enhance and enrich learning experiences
Emphasize independent learning, critical thinking, and research skills
Build creativity, collaboration, leadership, and advanced thinking skills
Extend beyond the core curriculum
How is a student identified?
An in-person appointment will be made for students to come to bat365 to take 2 assessments:
A verbal assessment that tests vocabulary, comprehension, and reasoning skills
A nonverbal assessment that tests patterning, reasoning, and spatial visualization
In order to be identified, students must score at or above the 98th percentile or obtain 15 matrix points.
This means the student is testing well-above their same age peers and would benefit from GATE services to help them build the necessary thinking skills to reach their full potential.
